Its lunch time and you have prepared curd rice, now you want a side dish which has some nutritional value and yet tasty, if you are like me you love pickles but they add no nutrition to your diet, why not make a simple bhindi fry. It tastes great and if you believe your elders, they say it helps you learn math.
Cut the lady’s finger at an angle to make more surface area as they shrink after cooking. At the end don’t forget to add pepper and jeera powder, that gives your dish a nice aroma and taste.
- 15 lady's Finger
- 1 tsp urad dal
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp fennel seeds
- few curry leaves
- oil for cooking
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp yogurt
- 1 tbsp pepper+jeera powder
- coriander to garnish
Add oil to a pan in medium heat, add the urad dal, fennel seeds and mustard seeds, Let the mustard crackle.
Now add the curry leaves and cook for a few seconds and add the lady's finger
Add required salt and turmeric and cook for 3 minutes, mixing occasionally
Now add the yogurt and cook for another 8 minutes
Once done finish off with pepper and jeera powder(made by grinding equal parts of pepper and jeera), Garnish with coriander
Your fry is ready to serve, best enjoyed with a bowl of curd rice
